Be A Child 04:27
Be a child Be a child A master Back in time You forget yourself Hoo, you forget yourself The past retreats, your path release Begin again Here again Back in time A master who forgot yourself Hoo you forget yourself Let go your fears The path laid clear Begin again (And round and round and round and round we go...)
2.
When I am tightly coiled My mind lurching forth Here I unfold, here I unfold Was it my imagination Saw it from a funny angle If you don't dream, then you don't fly If you don't dream, dream, then you don't fly Here we make our great escape Hold the hand of mystery We're gone too soon, our seasons out of synch If we are fading fast, then hey, it's okay We're gone too soon, our seasons out of synch And there's no time
3.
This city can't hide And everywhere you turn Seeking shelter not any old place Come more like you This city capsized From its head to its shoes Change is change, and everything Becoming something new Will you be racing? Will you be safe? This city's not mine Not within, or without Who will leave and who will stay Longer than you? Are you erasing? Will you be safe? Yeah either way, any day You're gonna be a stranger too
4.
I'm gonna stay by the light burning through Gonna give something, gonna feel brand new I've been searching stars at night I've been making time I'm gonna hold clear and true Was it here, was it there, that I wanted Something new? I've been searching stars at night I've been making time What if we were free of history Take the lessons, leave behind the rest Hoo.... I've been searching stars at night Sinking, sailing, but still alright What if we were free of history Leave the lessons behind and just be? We could, we could, we could...

Shadow Dance 04:54
I can hear you still, from the edge Where you go You know the power of your words And what you think, you feel Yeah you know Someone builds an empire here To your ways they're drawing near To your ways they're drawing near An empire for the taking To everyone a taste of freedom A ticket out, take it, take it But we know how the story goes I can see you from afar And all you dared not dream But you did, yeah you did Somewhere I can hear you say "Never a master or a slave" Somewhere I can hear you say "Never a master or a slave" If it's not for sale, it's free Come on now, the curse has lifted To everyone a happy ending Everything would be so sweet To everyone a taste of freedom A ticket out, take it, take it, Oh --
6.
Say why the storm outside is coming now You're wise, don't let them tell you who you are Go far, and still you wonder which way But I can tell when the water is near Yeah I can tell when the water is near Don't hide the storm outside is breaking through This time we change, and change becomes truth Oh I can tell when the water is near Yeah I can tell when the water is near
7.
Step outside that achy dance The Hanged Man turns around again Oh redeem, and oh reveal Could it be something real Your fears place their bets But they won't no they won't hold you up If first you forgive yourself No they won't In wild, in you the fiction gone Let nature be the teacher now When all our debts been paid at last And all the jacks been played Then they won't no they won't hold you up Once you forgive yourself No they won't no they won't hold you up Now the light is on the inside Now the light is on, on, on...
8.
What say the lines on my hands? Here I've worked all these years Where do we let our burdens rest We traveled in reverse We sought a life of purpose See here, your fate begins to change With our thoughts we tip the scales Not for too long, watch and wait We traveled in reverse We sought a life of purpose But oh, you never find it A pathless land supplies And oh it's all around you A pathless land we find, we find, we find And oh, you never find it A pathless land supplies And oh it's all around you A pathless land we find, we find, we find, we find

So Free 04:01
The old ways gone who am I now No tribe to claim me, no moon to guide Show me the way, the gilded dream So free, what shall I be Erase my name, make a new claim A step along the endless road The language lost, the roots recoil History bleached from spotless soil So free, what shall I be Erase my name, make a new claim So free, the gilded dream Go tell the the tale your orphans believe Am I faking, am I a ghost Life on display, screen of smoke
10.
Take me back in time Train of history Was it myth or memory Those miles of opportunity Fiction or faith Well I don’t know You have to trust the road you’re on Mm hmm, you have to leave good enough alone But beware, they say, the past repeats Try, try, try, go on try and cheat fate Oh, oh/Oh It’s no crime to dare the dream Can't you hear the ancestors plead To all who come to set their roots, saying, “This is my America too” But try all you like, they say, the past repeats Go on try, try, try and cheat fate (Bridge) Everything a circle, oh Everything to ash, oh This I am today But soon I won’t be the same No I won’t, oh, no I won’t Then this I am today but oh no the past can’t have me Woh oh oh, oh… Soon I won’t be the same Well say all you like, the past repeats Well try, try, try it can't have me Try, try, try I'm gonna Try, I'm gonna show the past it can't have me
11.
I'll be on your side With the wolves that had me far behind I'll be true of words Hands are open, feet are on the earth And in this kinship of a new kind I'll be on your side You know I will, I speak free We'll have wealth of heart and eyes to see How do we know what's real and what is right Your fears are not shaped like mine It's only this that we can do Step forward and back in sharing truth You know we will, we speak free We'll have wealth of heart and eyes... And in the cold we find our breath All that was lost is better left Round the dark corner We'll be sure, we'll be sure You know we will We speak free Cause we've had lives before Full in love and struggle And where the demons gather We'll have wealth of heart And eyes to see
12.
Oh it's always the same One step forward and back again We can see the waves as they rise A simple species but we try We can hear a cold prophecy They test our fears, they test our everything Let our love light light the way Ba bum ba bum Only trust can make you safe We were made for times like this Oh we are stronger still This could be just a chapter of night We could turn chaos to light, chaos to light Let our love light light the way Ba bum ba bum Only trust can make you safe We were made for times like this Oh we are stronger still Let our love light light the way Ba bum ba bum Only trust can make you safe We were made for times like this Oh we are stronger still Four corners, earth and sky Reclaim all that you hide Hold it light the loss and gain Oh take this offering Let our love light the way....
13.
Can you hear the wind shaking? Reality taking turns Do you fear the danger of staying in a world of your own making? So it goes... Upside down you look around your feet in air you're gaining ground You're finally found, you're finally found Do you see stranger's faces and know not what they're saying? Upside down you look around your feet in air you're gaining ground You're finally found, you're finally found Do you feel the power of saying the world is what you make it? And you know you're finally found
14.
Give back my breath, I've not known it Always the same but ever strange I tamed my tongue Now I need one Deep freeze ever thawing And flat under glass I hear you calling And who's got their teeth in me In these archeology Who here's the prey and who's the innocent Yeah who's got the sweet relief The bottle in the bloodlines What cost the fiction, well I'm not buying, not buying, not buying And so, time inside out And I'm not running, running after all

about

The Dreamer & The Dream was inspired by a character I met in a dream, who I named Sam. Sam led me on an impressionistic journey through American history

about

Kela Parker Los Angeles, California

"A prepossessing voice" (A&R Factory).

No one sounds quite like Kela Parker. The Los Angeles- based, Portland, Oregon-bred singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist pushes the edges of pop forms with her singular mystic prairie rock, “like folk music, but from a country you’ve never heard of before.” (Destination: Universe!). ... more
